Composition
Given: 02nd December 2008
Due date: 19th December 2008

Compose a duet with the following specifications (50 marks)
The length should be at least 6 bars or more
Illustrate homophonic texture (10 marks)
Include a chord progression (10 marks)
Include at least one sequence (10 marks)
Include and mark out an example of similar motion (10 marks)
Make sure your work is clear, legible and neat. (5 marks)
Marks will be given for creativity and overall coherence (5 marks)

You are at liberty to choose your own time signature, key signature and other elements.

4.(a)The seventh chord is said to be ‘dissonant’ in nature. Define the term dissonance. (5 marks)
(b) How is dissonance important? Give two reasons (6 marks)

Dear voice students,

You are reminded to do your posture and breathing exercises regularly as instructed. There is a purpose and benefits to each exercise. Like a good athelete, a good singer must train. The golden rule of singing is PRATICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

Pay particular attention to this part of the singing course because it is where you learn good breathing, posture, psychological and ultimately singing habits.

Hallo musicians!

I want to remind you of a few things concerning our concert in December. the date will be confirmed by the end of the week. watch this space and notice boards.

Practice
Be reminded to attend all scheduled practice sessions including the normal class time 6:30-8:30pm on Tursdays in the Little Theatre.

years 2-4 are reminded that they are also expected to come! Well done for your attendance frist years and all other faithfulls!

Costume
Please start preparing your costume for the concert. We are going to wear 'African attire'. For ladies, National wear, Khalidwe, Mzika wear is acceptable. The gentlemen may wear printed shirts and plain trousers (preferably black) or whatever they deem african.

Publicity
There is nothing more effective than word of mouth advertising. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

Assessment
This concert, and all preparation thereof, is a serious affair and will contribute to your assessment(as usual). Extra credit will be given to notable contribution.

Participation

All music students must participate as part of the ensemble choir.
This is for not music students only. Other students may be involved. Feel free to join us at 6:30 -8:30 every thursday night in the Little Theatre.
